MARK ANDREW TARTAGLIO SCHOLARSHIP
Mark Andrew Tartaglio was a 20-year-old sophomore at the University of Houston when his life was tragically cut short in April of 2016. Mark Andrew and his girlfriend were walking on the sidewalk when a drunk driver went out of control, jumped the curb, and hit them. Mark Andrew’s last act was to push her out of the way. He is remembered as a hero for saving her life. Mark Andrew shined a light on all who were fortunate enough to know him. The Mark Andrew Tartaglio Scholarship Fund has been established in his memory. This Fund awards scholarships to college students who have faced a significant challenge like the loss of a sibling, parent, guardian, or other life-changing event. Consideration is also given based on demonstrated academic achievement and/or financial need. This Fund is helping young adults on the journey of pursuing their dreams.
ABOUT MARK
Mark Andrew Tartaglio was a kind soul who shined a light on all who knew him. He was a loving son, caring brother and loyal friend who would go out of his way to give a helping hand. His great sense of humor made you laugh. He had the ability to turn a simple act into a fun game, to appreciate the little things in life and experience the joy in them. Spending time with family and friends was important to him. Mark Andrew enjoyed playing golf, competitive travel ice hockey, snowboarding, and movies. After graduating from Stephen F Austin High School (Sugar Land, TX) in 2014 he enrolled in the University of Houston where he was majoring in Construction Management and also became a member of the KA Fraternity.
